Monday, April 2, with a keynote address about the state
of the Postal Service and the mailing industry. Competing
for customers in a digital world is a challenge facing every
part of the mailing industry. Leveraging technology,
innovation and creativity can be a powerful path forward.
The Postmaster General will discuss the core business
strategies of the Postal Service, announce new offerings
and initiatives, and describe Postal Service actions to
support a more vibrant and growing mailing industry.

Perspectives on Tomorrow’s Mailing Industry
Tuesday-7:45 AM to 8:45 AM-Osceola Ballroom
 

It has never been more important for the mailing industry to work collaboratively to address its shared challenges and to strengthen its role in the American economy. This session features frank talk about legislative issues, optimizing processing, distribution and retail networks, making it easier to do business with the Postal Service, and the role of innovation and technology in shaping the future. Join the Postmaster General, members of his leadership team, and other guests. Ron Stroman, Deputy Postmaster General will address legislative issues and will be joined by Peter Brännström, Chief Operating Officer and Director of Production for Posten Meddelande (Sweden Post), one of Sweden’s largest corporations commissioned by the Swedish State to make postal services available nationwide. Megan Brennan, USPS Chief Operating Officer, will discuss and demonstrate the processes and tools being used to maintain and improve quality service performance, even as the Postal Service implements network optimization. Ellis Burgoyne, USPS Chief Information Officer, will highlight the technology behind the technology driving innovation and improved product visibility.

PCC Leadership Opening Session

Hear how the US Postal Service is using PCCs to communicate about important issues facing the mailing industry and obtain feedback from the local level. In this highly interactive double session, senior leadership will discuss one of the Postmaster General's four corporate goals, improving the customer experience. Attendees for the first time will have an opportunity to give their feedback using hand held voting devices to answer key questions, and then discuss the issues at facilitated tables. Then, members of the PCC Advisory Committee will discuss the vision for how to best leverage PCCs to maintain a two-way dialog between USPS and the mailing industry. Attendees will again have an opportunity to discuss PCC issues and brainstorm ideas and best practices at their table group.

Intelligent Mail for Seasoned Users

Since its implementation in early 2003, Intelligent Mail has become a powerful asset for business mailers through its system-wide mail visibility, the improvement of service and the added value it provides them. Surpassing initial expectations, Intelligent Mail met its goal of providing accurate, real-time identification and tracking of mail throughout the mail stream. Aimed at seasoned users, this workshop looks at the future of Intelligent Mail and the next steps of this technology: adopting technology to improve mail quality from beginning to end. Through the use of various Mail Quality Reporting functionalities, the Postal Service seeks to address mail quality with the ultimate goal of reducing costs, improving mail performance and boosting revenue for itself and its customers.

As the United States Postal Service (USPS) continues to endure the negative effects of electronic diversion combined with a weak economy and increased funding obligations, the financial impacts on the organization have become untenable. Gary Reblin is vice president of Domestic Products for the U.S. Postal Service, responsible for all domestic mailing and shipping products. Come hear his strategies for business-to-consumer shipping options for ecommerce; enhancing the value of direct mail through emerging technologies; and linking digital messaging, social media, and hard copy to facilitate personal correspondence.


Mail Entry:  The Seamless Way
Monday-3:30 PM to 4:30 PM-Miami

The Seamless Way refers to the strategic move made by the Postal Service to automate mail entry verification processes. Applying unique Intelligent Mail barcodes (IMbs) on mailpieces and eDoc technology, Seamless Acceptance mailers can verify mailings and receive mail preparation quality visibility. This workshop introduces this and other exciting aspects of the Seamless Mail Entry.
